A sincere thank you to all parishioners for their contributions to the SVP collection made at the start of the summer. As a result of your generosity, we have been able to send £300 to the South Sudan Infant Feeding programme for which they are extremely grateful. 

Alpha is being hosted by the parish of St John Boste, in the Haydock Centre, on Wednesday evenings (6-8pm) until 18th November 2026. It is not necessary to attend every session. The evening comprises a meal, followed by a video, interspersed with group discussion.

Thank you to all those who took the postcards to send to our respective MPs or contacted them directly, it is worth noting that the MPs who represent the area of the parish of St John Boste all voted against the Bill.

It is a moment of gratitude and answer to prayer that on Friday, the Assisted Suicide Bill was defeated in Parliament.

I would like to invite anyone who can play the organ, piano and those interested in singing to meet with me and members of the choir after the 10.30am Mass at St Catherine’s this Sunday (13th September).

Bishop Paul will join us for Mass at which I will be inducted as Parish Priest. After Mass there will be a reception in the Haydock Centre. Please do make the effort to join and welcome Bishop Paul to the parish and for us to gather as a whole parish for Mass and social afterwards.

Each year the Church sets aside the third Sunday of September as a special time of prayer focussing on the spread of the gospel in our own country. Read more to find what you can do.

Join us at 5.30pm in the Quiet Room, Haydock Centre, to discuss The Story of a Soul (St Thérèse of Lisieux)

The pilgrimage begins with Mass at 11am in St Marys, Fernyhalgh followed by a Blessed Sacrament Procession to the Shrine concluding with Benediction.

There will be a “Curry Aid” evening at Soulby village hall on Friday 2nd October at 7.30pm. Tickets £17.50 are available from Sylvia on 01768 371394.

All those working in healthcare (doctors, nurses, pharmacists, receptionists, porters, chaplains and many more) are invited to Mass with our bishop on Saturday 17th October at 12.15pm in Lancaster Cathedral….
